Unique venues for a child’s party

I have to be honest, I do love the good things in life.  And in Cape Town we have a feast of really stunning and luxurious places we can go to, which I try to frequent as often as I can, when budget permits!  So I was thinking… I wonder if some of these places that I love, would be a good venue for a child’s party?  So I went to explore…

One of the prestigious hotels in Cape Town that has a long colonial history is the Mount Nelson.  Her pink blush buildings with a back drop of Table Mountain and her beautiful manicured gardens is a truly magnificent venue for any occasion.  I confess, I have been there many times for a variety of occasions:  high teas, work conferences, cocktails, dinners!  I was pleasantly surprised that they are willing and open on hosting a kiddies party on their lovely lawns.  All catering needs to be provided by the Mt Nellie, but you are welcome to bring your own birthday cake and party packs (excl catering items).  They are even willing to allow you to hire and put up a jumping castle depending on the date and what other functions are on! Cape Town wouldn’t be Cape Town without its beautiful wine farms and on our door step is the beautiful Constantia Valley.  These farms are steeped in history and one of the favoured tourist attractions is Groot Constantia.  It has been a favourite spot of mine to run through the vineyards at dusk with the running club, and for meals at Simon’s, tea at Jonkershuis and picnics on the lawns.  Jonkershuis is very kitted out for children’s parties and have tailored packages available at a price per child, with a fee for venue hire.  The fee includes a birthday cake or cupcakes and party boxes filled with munchies for the kids. For an additional fee they can decorate according to the theme, with balloons, etc or you can bring your own. (www.grootconstantia.co.za)

A hidden gem in the Southern suburbs is boutique hotel, Greenways, situated on the edge of Bishopscourt.  It is an opulent old mansion and I often wonder who the wealthy family was that must have lived in it in the past?  I have been there a few times, for afternoon tea, work conference and breakfast and it is a beautifully tranquil spot near the hubub of busy Claremont.  They have a beautiful terrace that overlooks their rolling lawns and would make a fantastic location for a child’s party.  There is a sheltered jungle gym in the middle of the garden underneath a huge tree and they also can set up croquet on the lawn if you wish.  They do cater for functions at a price per head.    (www.greenways.co.za)

  1. Finding a suitable party venue for your child seem to be stressful but rewarding. A unique venue like this beautiful ground full of greens make a perfect venue for kids birthday party. It’s the best for the special occasion.
